We move to Portugal, and nowhere else
A single-corridor removals firm: the UK to the Portuguese coast, the north, and the Atlantic islands that can only be reached by sea.
There are two ways to run an international removals firm. You can cover everywhere and know each route a little, or you can cover one route and know it completely. We took the second option.
Everything on this site is about one journey: out of Britain, across France and Spain, and into Portugal — or, for Madeira and the Azores, onto a ship at a Portuguese port and out into the Atlantic.
Where we concentrate
Within Portugal we cover the coast west of Lisbon, the hills behind it, the university city of Coimbra, the granite north, the Silver Coast, and the two island groups. Those are the places we have learned properly.
Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve are covered in depth by uk-portugal-removals.co.uk, who run the same corridor. We deliberately do not duplicate their ground, and if your address sits squarely in theirs we will say so and point you to them. Between the two of us the country is covered; neither of us needs to pretend to be the other.
Why the islands matter to us
Most firms listing Portugal quietly mean the mainland. Madeira and the Azores involve sea freight, marine-grade packing, an inter-island transfer for most of the Azorean islands, and delivery addresses on gradients that would defeat a lorry anywhere in Europe.
They are the hardest work we do and the reason our packing standard is what it is. A consignment that survives two sea legs and four handling events is packed to a level that makes a mainland delivery trivial.
What we are not
We are not a broker. We are not the cheapest quote you will receive, because the cheapest quote is usually the one that has not counted the garage or allowed for the shuttle. And we do not display accreditations, ratings or press coverage we have not earned — if a claim is on this site, we can stand behind it.
How we work
Four things we hold to
One corridor, learned properly
Portugal is the only country we move to. That is not a limitation we are apologising for — it is the reason we know that Sintra needs a shuttle, that the Alta in Coimbra is reached by stairs, and that a consignment to Flores involves two sea legs and a schedule the Atlantic can overrule.
The paperwork comes first
We tell people to start their NIF before they book us. It costs us bookings occasionally, when someone realises they are further from moving than they thought. It also means our customers’ goods are not sitting at a port waiting for a number.
No transit promises we cannot keep
We do not publish a figure for how long a move takes, because it depends on the destination, the load type, the customs and the sailings. Your quote carries an estimated window for your move. An average dressed up as a promise helps nobody.
A clear edge to what we do
No vehicles, no pets, no tax advice, and no work to France or Spain even though we drive through them. Knowing where the edge is makes everything inside it more reliable.
